What are device video drivers? They are files that communicate between three things:
hardware
devices
operating system
Some of the errors your computer will generate if your driver is either not updated or not operating appropriately are listed below.

driver not found: this is when windows (your operating system can not find the device driver which generally happens when the driver was not properly installed, was accidently deleted by someone or old device was overwritten by new installation)

driver import: this type of error is generated when you are trying to update a particular device signaling that the file was corrupt upon installation

driver installation: if any part of the installation package is corrupt you will get this error.

incompatible driver: this error occurs when you download the drivers of a device that is designated to work with an operating system other than what you have in your system

device restart errors: these error rarely generate a error box. When installing a new device, it is a good idea to restart your computer.

Now that we understand how some of these errors come about, lets discuss the error message VGA mode. If you get this message it is generally due to your video driver acting up. Solution: reinstall this driver which would have come with the original software package when you acquired the computer. If you do not have the original disc, then if you have Windows XP or Vista you can do a System Restore and this will solve that issue. System restore can be found in the accessories folder under System Tools. This process will not impact any of your applications/programs, it will allow you to restore the system and the video drivers without impacting anything else. Another way to restore or repair the video driver, download the driver directly from the website of the driver's manufacturer. If you do not know who made your video card, find your device manager (1. Control Panel, 2. System, 3. Device Manager) and look for the icon for the Display Adapter. Look for your display adapter on the list provided. Double-click on that file to get the manufacturer and name of the device. Then go online, find the manufacturer and download the driver, install it and you have solved your video driver problem.
